Day 8 - Miaoli County

Dahu township in Miaoli county is the place where 90% of all strawberries in Taiwan are grown. It is only an hour and a half drive from Taipei.
The Strawberry Cultural Hall in Dahu contains a museum, a shop and a restaurant and almost everything sold there is made from strawberries: wine, soda, ice cream, sausages, cosmetics etc.

We had lunch with Hakka food and decided to find a place for coffee, somewhere in Miaoli mountains:

Then, we went to visit nashi pears farm. This is a fruit that is a cross between Taiwanese and Japanese pears. It is crisp, watery and very delicious. It is quite expensive in Australia so here I take every opportunity to enjoy them.

Another Taiwanese product: betel nuts.
So called betel nut beauties are dressed in revealing clothing only to attract customers. Nothing hidden behind selling betel nuts.
