Day 13 - Taipei and Grand Hotel

After two busy weeks, I decided to take a break and spend some time buying souvenirs in Taipei and visiting the iconic Grand Hotel in Taipei.
I have never stayed here but it looks very luxurious:
After the Taipei visit, back to Australia.

Day 12 - Xitou Nature Education Area

On this day, we drove to the Xitou Nature Education Area, one of the compulsory sites to visit for Taiwan's primary and secondary school students.

This raised walkaway stretches for 180 meters and reaches the height of 22 meters:

 Tourists feeding a squirrel:

Dangers: killer wasps and poisonous snakes.

 Huge bamboo forest:

The first ladder suspension bridge in Taiwan is situated in Shang Hang of Taiji gorge crossing the Liqiuliao river.
The drop height is 20 meters. The length of the bridge is 136 meters and consists of 208 steps. You have to do some hiking to get there and I was unlucky as it rained heavily on that day.

On the way back, it was raining so heavily that we hardly saw the road. We felt quite relieved when we came down from the mountains.
